Here are a few of our frequently asked questions!
Architects have the visionary, aesthetic, and functional capabilities to take an owner’s conceptual idea and bring it to life. Experts will tell you that architects simplify your life by dealing with consultants, building codes, and contractors; they can save you money negotiating a myriad of problems during construction; they understand materials, building systems, composition and proportion, and best of all, they say that you’ll end up with a beautiful and pleasing project… all true!
An architect is a collaborator that you will trust to make your dream vision a reality. Therefore, it is important that you are very comfortable with your architect. You will want to know that they have experience in your type of project, and that they understand what you are looking for aesthetically and functionally. You’ll want to make sure that communication with them is easy and clear, and that you feel seen and heard. It is important that they communicate their process to you. That’s what we do with every owner, on every project.
In addition to providing traditional architectural services (planning and designing buildings, overseeing construction and managing building projects), we provide consultation services to help clients with issues related to the design and construction of buildings. Arcolution confers with owners for advice on design, we review building plans, we perform site investigations, we render expert opinions on construction, materials and building codes, and we also provide support during the construction phase.
Arcolution has designed scores of projects in California, the vast majority of which have been accessory dwelling units (ADUs), single-family residences and multi-unit housing (including special needs, shelters and low-income housing) in the greater Los Angeles area.
Our dedicated concentration in this area assures that we have the experience, capacity, expertise and passion to bring your residential project to life.
Arcolution’s founding principal,
Eve Reynolds AIA, was selected as one
of seven architectural firms in
California to participate in the first
ADU prototype project developed by the City of Santa Cruz.
Her prototype #6 was built and featured on the cover of Western City: League of California Cities magazine in March, 2005, recognizing our firm’s innovative approach to ADU design and its positive impact on local housing initiatives.
Since then, we’ve done many ADUs and consider it one of the best ways to develop additional housing with least impact on municipal infrastructure.
Choosing California licensed architects for your residential project is critical. Licensure ensures that minimum standards have been achieved. You’ll want to make sure that your architect
is a member of the profession’s largest organization, the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
AIA architects subscribe to a code of ethics and conduct that assures clients and the public of their dedication to high standards of professional practice. AIA architects are committed to staying current through continuing education.
Arcolution is a proud AIA firm licensed
in California, providing professional services to homeowners, business owners, non-profits and municipal entities.
